This sweet baby’s father is a pilot, and we incorporated some of his pilot “stuff” into their newborn photography session! They came in to the Wauwatosa photo studio armed with lots of great ideas, check out this little cutie baby…

I met this wonderful mother during Diva Night in the Village of Wauwatosa and she came in to the Wauwatosa studio for a mother and child photography session.  I met so many incredible women and mothers, it was such fun!  I can’t wait to photograph more of those Divas!  Here are two BEAUTIFUL, amazingly easy to photograph, sweet little girls.  This mom was so kind and wonderful, so sweet and genuine with her daughters.  I could have photographed them all night!

I went on location in Wauwatosa to meet this beautiful baby girl!  Her proud new mother and father were excited to capture her with an infant photography session to celebrate 100 days old.  It was a terrific session, we captured some amazing sweetness, she was so beautiful and adorable for the camera!  Her parents (and grandparents!) were so loving and kind to her and just soaked up every ounce of her cute self.  Such fun to photograph!!

The blog is in the process of being updated, it’ll soon have a fun new layout and a few other new features… in the meantime, I’m combining three newborn babies and one GORGEOUS belly all in this one post.  Look at this sweet little face. Such a precious little squishy face, kissable lips, and with this little hat on- just adorable!

This beautiful baby boy was an incredible pleasure to photograph in the Wauwatosa studio a few weeks ago. I adored his mother and father, could totally hang out and chat with them for hours. It’s always so fun to connect with other parents that I have a lot in common with! Their family, their children… so beautiful! In another post some day, I should post a before and after (pregnant and with-baby) of their family of five! They are gorgeous images of their family!

And the third sweet newborn… I just have to share this one from this sweet baby’s session… look at this precious smile!

This sweet baby girl is one beautiful child whom I get to photograph every few months in the Watch Me Grow program! I was fortunate enough to get to know her mother while still pregnant, and then of course I photographed this little girl as a newborn… now at 4 months, she looks like a different baby! She’s changed so much- such beautiful eyes, gorgeous red hair, and this smile… she’s amazing!

And we apparently conducted this session just in time… this beautiful belly no longer has the baby inside! I will hopefully meet this new little guy this week! I’m certain that he is beautiful and I know that his parents are just loving every moment with their new babe.

Thanks for checking in and seeing what’s new, keep an eye out for changes and updates to the blog in the coming weeks!

This family has been very special to me for a very long time. They’re amazing and strong and loving and kind. They have the biggest most amazing hearts and it was a PLEASURE and an honor to photograph this very special time in their lives, expecting another beautiful baby. Each of their babies is so very loved, so beautiful and sweet and perfect…. I think you’ll see in their faces how much love (and fun) they have!

Edited to add: thanks to the wonderful Erin P. for emailing me a link to this perfect song, which fits these images perfectly. The lyrics are just… perfect. Be prepared to be teary, especially if you are a mother to a little boy.
Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) by Dixie Chicks

Boys with no shirts on. Back lighting at sunset. Superman band aids. Dirty little fingernails at the end of the day. Mosquito bites. These are my boys.

He’ll be five next month but still has the little furry hairs on the back of his neck, shoulders, arms, and even on his face, which you can just barely see…

Followed by the inevitable goofy-ness after about three seconds of holding back.

Motherhood is precious. These boys are amazing. I love every minute of every hour that I spend with them and have never enjoyed it more than I do right now. I love the little things about them, the things they cry about and the things they laugh about. I love to photograph them, to really capture the different facets of who they are. Who they are to each other, to themselves, and who they are to me. Because this is it. This is the now- them today, captured forever in images that I love so much and love every time I see them in our home. Portraits of them are filling my house lately more than they previously have.

Sometimes it just hits me that I don’t have enough. A good friend of mine has a sign where she keeps her camera that says: don’t be so busy photographing other people’s kids that you don’t do it enough for yourself. I think it happens to most photographers, it cycles around. I’m happy to be on a roll with them, whether they like it or not right now, they’ll love it later. We all will. :)

I don’t share them much on the blog but this time, I couldn’t not share them… snuggle your kids today.  They’re just wonderful little people.

Have a wonderful day.

Tonight is a self proclaimed “party night” for me and my boys.  After a busy week, that is music to my ears!  As you may know, I worked out of my home gallery (and for photography sessions, entirely on location) until just this past Jan., when we moved the business into the fabulous Brookfield Studio, which I adore. Back in the day, I did quite a bit of late night proofing, I could never escape! Since the move, I no longer do any work at home; phone calls and email is about the extent of it. However, on the rare occasion when my husband is away for a night, I drag the laptop home (as if that’s what it’s for?) and proof, just like the good old days.

Such evenings when my husband is gone, it is a “party night” for me and my monkeys. We do things like go grocery shopping at 8 pm, order pizza at 9, and they fall asleep on the couch at 10! Not exactly the norm, but so much fun.

Tonight they zonked out, allowing me some rare quiet time and enjoyment to proof THIS amazing maternity session. It was a mini session, a wonderful mini session with a GORGEOUS, beautiful pregnant mother. I am excited to share these stunning images! I adore the outdoor images, she is so beautiful and natural.

Children’s photography is an amazing thing. Children are so moody, so up and down, and the greatest thing is that they don’t really fake their emotions. This very insightful image of this beautiful girl was one of the very first images from this family’s photography session in Menomonee Falls a few weeks ago:

And this was one of the last.

Somewhere in the middle, we managed this peaceful moment during an otherwise not-so-peaceful, wild and crazy, fun session…

And here is just one more absolute favorite image from my sweet boy (posted others of him here.)

That’s all for now. Have a wonderful night.

I had the joy of photographing this beautiful girl again recently, are her eyes as striking as I think they are?! I think her eyes are so soulful, so deep and gorgeous. She listens so well… I remember photographing her when she was 2 (she’s three now…) and thinking that she was THE most easy, sweet and calm 2- year old ever. This holds true… she makes my job easier than it sometimes is!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I am *loving* this down time… we had a wonderful Christmas with our boys- but I did want to update and post another featured mom. This mom is another amazing mother, and such a supportive, kind hearted person. Here are her babies…

newborn_baby_photographer_wisconsin.jpg

sisters_photographer_milwaukee.jpg

And here is her Q & A! Enjoy!!

* First name & city: Erin, Menomonee Falls
* How many children, first names and ages: Three beautiful girls, Ayla 8, Ava 4 & baby Anya born September 16, 2007.
* What’s on the top of your Christmas list? I have a beautiful baby girl with red hair and dimples when she smiles. What more could I want than the gifts I’ve already been given this year?!
* What’s on the top of your children’s wish lists? A horse for the backyard (not gonna happen)!
The gift you are most excited to give: An old fashioned marble run like I used to play with…back in the old days… when toys were simple. :)
* What is your favorite family holiday tradition? Our annual Holiday Open House. My mom comes over the day before and we bake tons of cookies together. Exhausting but fun.
* Black friday- are you out before 6 am? Ummm, no. I don’t do 4am unless it’s to nurse the baby. :)
* One store getting a lot of your business for gifts this Holiday season: Not buying a ton of gifts, so it’s been really spread out.
* Favorite holiday food? My mom’s famous Pecan Cinnamon Rolls (as in you have to marry into the family to be “allowed” to have one. There was a debate the Christmas before my husband and I got married as to whether or not he qualified, but we let him slide).
* Favorite places to go with your children in the winter months: Somewhere warm, oh wait… that’s just for me. :)
What was the last book you read to your children? Five little monkey’s jumping on the bed (and it’s just as good the 92nd time around).
* What’s on your nightstand? Books and an alarm clock, and diaper pins and baby nail clippers.
* What are your favorite websites or blogs to visit? Mothering.com, MySpace (now that I’m addicted to looking up old college friends)
* What are your 3 favorite local restaurants: Mr. B’s (fancy), Mi Cocina (with kids), Culver’s (when desperate)
* What is your favorite Salon? Les Ciseaux in downtown Milwaukee. They have cut my children’s hair since they were little and do a great job with mine as well! Also in the massage department you have to try The Body Awareness Center on Prospect Ave. in downtown Milwaukee. Jill Seebantz (owner and incredible massage therapist) give the best massage you will ever have!
* What local groups or causes are you involved with? I am a big fan and supporter of The Center For Well Rounded Maternity Care (aka: The Birth Center) owned by Coral Slavin in Menomonee Falls. We do an annual Rummage Sale to raise money for the center every summer. I have personally benefited from her Parenting Naturally support groups (there are three in the Metro Milwaukee area) and online Yahoo group. I’ve taken her Bradley Childbirth Preparation Class (excellent) and its refresher course and my four year old loves the child Yoga classes they offer. I buy cloth diapers and other goods at her boutique. I am honored to call Coral my mentor and friend. Check it all out at http://www.well-roundedmaternity.com/. I support Midwives and the work they do for babies and their families. We are blessed to live in a community with several local midwives. It is a wonderful option for women who want to have their babies at home or in the birth center. It may sound corny, but I truly believe that “Peace on Earth begins with Birth”.
* Any business or fun stuff you want to share? As a birth doula I am a member of the CARE Network and serve as the Treasurer. I love being a doula and supporting women and their families through one of the greatest experiences in life. If you are looking for a doula or other birth related worker go to http://www.carenetworkwisconsin.org/Index.htm
* And last but not least, what do you *love* about proud to introduce? :) (I had to!) I love the images of my children displayed around my house. The same children I know and love, captured at a pure moment in time. A picture of my then three year old holding her beloved Miss Kitty. Or my eight year old looking like a princess for her First Communion. My pregnant belly before my baby was born and my sweet newborn at a day old gazing into her Daddy’s eyes. Walk into my home and you’ll see why I love Allie’s work!
