I am definitely feeling the height of busy season!!

I apologize if the blog is lacking a bit… every spare moment is pretty much gulped up by proofing, consults, ordering appointments, processing, packaging, pick ups, or other client meetings… I expect to be busy right now, and while I know that every year, this is the craziest time, it always seems crazier than I expect! All that being said, I LOVE IT! I am one of those people who work BETTER and more efficiently when there is more going on.

2 years ago, I spent some ridiculous 7 hours straight in the car on DECEMBER 23rd delivering orders to several clients located all throughout the area, from Hartland to Shorewood. Seven hours!!! Big mistake!!! I remember the roads were bad, it was dark… awful. Live and learn… I am thankful to have *learned* from that (how could I not?!) and am now much more paced and doing things not in such last-minute mode. Can you imagine?!

Anyway, here are a few peeks from a fabulous recent session.

Viewing and ordering appointments are pretty fun. It’s ALWAYS exciting to show clients all of their finished images for the first time. It’s great to hear what their favorites are and which ones they don’t love, fun to compare my favorites with theirs… fun to help them consider finishes, sizes, etc. All that is great, but last night’s ordering appointment takes the cake.

As we were chatting, after all the “business” was taken care of, my wonderful client told me about how they really were not sure that I got any good images. I nodded, because I hear that very often.

But she went on… to tell me that they got in my car after the session, and she told me all about the hilareous conversations that ensued. And about the hilareousness (is that a word?) of what happened in the hour leading up to the session, losing *the* hat, screaming about it, searching all over, running late because of the hat, getting stuck by the train, and finally, giving the kids treats and smiling happy SO well that I never had a clue!!

Oh, it was the funniest thing. But it gets better. She told me that she could not read me. That she is generally pretty darn good at getting a feel for a person, a situation, but that with me, she got nothing! She could not tell if I thought it was a good session, nor if I thought her kids were good or difficult. I assured her that I knew right away that it was a GREAT session, that her children were PERFECT… (better and easier than expected, for their ages!)

… she said that during the session, I was so very focused that she couldn’t “read” me at all. I worried that that meant that I seemed unfriendly, but she said no- not unfriendly, just… focused. ((During a session, I am definitely in creative mode. Really thinking and paying close attention to the light, the backgrounds, and of course, expressions, interactions, keeping the kids happy, etc.))

I love this story so much, it is SO fun and interesting for me to hear about what people thought and what their reactions are/were during and after a session. I do hear very very often “I hope we got some good images…” and we *always* do…. it’s so funny the way clients are surprised during the viewing and ordering appointment- I love it.

Anyway, thank you B, for being the most fun I have ever had during an ordering appointment. Thank you for sharing your great stories… I have not laughed that much in so long… and your story about the hat, getting there, not acting stressed out…… funniest thing I’ve heard… and I needed that good laugh. :)

some sadness. I photographed a sweet baby girl who lived for 14 very precious hours. This was my second experience with remembrance photography, and while it is very emotional, I am again honored beyond words to have been invited into this family’s life during these fleeting, special hours to document their family, as it was, for those hours.

To the Family: while countless people were touched by the strength and love in your family, and by your sweet girl’s story and time on the earth, we continue to think of you and keep your family in our prayers.

This family was so very photogenic, and so pleasant and easygoing. They needed to update their family portraits and it was the perfect time, beautiful fall weather, gorgeous kids… a very busy one year old who kept me on my toes!

But those sessions with the one year olds who keep me running are the most rewarding… when we get images like that. And like the one on the new splash page www.proudtointroduce.com … it doesn’t get any better than that!

Here is one very unique, and beautiful image from their session as well….. I love so many! (What’s new, right?!) :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Isn’t he adorable?!?!

Okay- After scrutinizing our schedule and my calendar a bit, I’ve decided I can take a few more sessions and guarantee holiday delivery. The holiday deadline is now November 10. Which means… your session must be conducted by that date, and your ordering session must take place by November 27, at the absolute latest. Classic portraits, albums, and canvas will be ready in time for holiday delivery, however coffee table books will not be. I can take two sessions more sessions between November 1 and 10- call or email if you are interested!

Beyond the holiday deadline, we have availability for one session, to take place the week or weekend after Thanksgiving, and then 2 openings for sessions in the first two weeks of December.

And in closing, a quirky-cute-adorable (can I combine all of those into one word??!) image of THE sweetest little boy… who has grown up an awful lot since I last saw him about 6 months ago!

Well, as some of you know, we went ahead and did the mini session event on Sunday despite the rain. I set up a simple black background… which is NOT something that I normally do outside of newborn sessions, but it worked out beautifully!

I couldn’t fathom putting this off another two weeks until the scheduled rain date, because I feared not having the time to get your cards to you quickly enough- I am so glad that it all worked out the way it did!

So mini session clients… keep your eyes open for an email before 10 am this Friday, the 19th. I am working hard on your proofs and online galleries!

I have seen this little man so many times, for which I am extremely thankful… the first of which was when he was a newborn… and much to my surprise, all of a sudden, he looks SO grown up, so much bigger, older than he did just a few months ago, I was just amazed. Each and every time I see him, he looks bigger, older, a little different… but THIS time was unbelievable! Wow, he’s gorgeous. :)

Look at these beautiful babies! I was in a blissful state of PURE love during our session.

Everything about it was wonderful. They both slept so nicely for me during both individual portions of the session and for a good several minutes together, for two short rounds of togetherness! They let me move them, scrunch them, snuggle them together… it was heaven. They are just amazing, I can’t even tell you.

Moving on now to potentially less visually appealing material… mini portrait sessions tomorrow in Delafield at Arrivals Maternity Boutique. If you have a child or family photo session scheduled and are checking in here, you should have received a phone call this afternoon reminding you of your session time, to please arrive at least 5 minutes early, and that IF we need to call it off for weather, that you’ll get a call by 9:15 at the latest. If you do not hear from us by 9:15, it means we’re on, and to come on in! If we do not call it off, and then it does begin to sprinkle, we always have the option of moving indoors. Looking forward to tomorrow and crossing our fingers for good weather for your fall/holiday portraits!

There are still a few openings for mini sessions and it looks like good weather!

If these last few openings don’t fill up soon, we’ll accept bookings for them up until the last minute and just have you fill out the reservation form when you arrive. I guess that’s what we get for announcing a date a week and a half prior to the event!

As always, email me with questions and call arrivals to schedule. :)

All newborn sessions are not created equally! Really, that can be said for any type of session and to be honest, I find it terribly exciting and it certainly keeps me on my toes to not quite know what I’m walking into, what a session will be like, how easy (or not) it will be, or how much it will make me sweat.

I can not even tell you how much this sweet, tiny little 6 day old did NOT make me sweat! He slept like a champ. Easy and squishy and sweet as can be. I just *loved* him, I really did.

He was so furry, so precious… such a wonderful, content, and perfect little baby. And his parents… I could have spent the whole afternoon (after the whole morning!) hanging out and chit chatting with them. It’s just not natural to be so happy, pleasant, not to mention CUTE, 6 days postpartum. But they were. This is their perfect baby:

I wanted to address some of the questions we are getting regarding mini sessions.

Q: Can I customize the card designs? A: Somewhat. With a full session, your cards are designed brand new, just for you, however for mini sessions due to the reduced cost of them, customizing the designs is somewhat limited. If you would like to add a personal statement, the year, a religious quote, etc., that is no problem. Changing a background color is fine, too. The overall design of the cards can not be changed, but they are SO cute… here are the samples of what you may choose from for your cards:

Q: Can I buy more cards or portraits than what’s in a collection, if I need more? A: Of course! Email me if you’d like to see what each of the collection options is made up of. There is no minimum order for the mini sessions, and after you purchase a collection, you may add on to it in bits and pieces of what YOU want and need, whether that is more cards, more gift prints, more portraits for your walls, whatever!

Please remember to contact ME with questions, Arrivals is scheduling for us but I’m your question answerer. :)

Feel free of course to still email/call me with other questions or call Arrivals to schedule- 262.646.3170. There are still some openings! :)
