approach
A few words about the experience and quality of a portrait session with me…
I strive to build genuine relationship with each child, family or individual that I photograph and my images express that through honest, inspired, genuine captures.
With family sessions, I capture not only what your child looks like when smiling, but also little bits of what lies beneath the surface. Feelings. Connections. Personality. Sessions are casual, relaxed, and sweet. (Unless of course your child is wild and crazy and needs me to match the wild and crazy. Then I will bring my wild and crazy side, too!)
Makeover sessions are an afternoon of pampering, getting beautified, and enjoying some time to yourself. From start to finish, we’ll do your hair and makeup and relax and enjoy the time photographing you. These sessions are quite a treat. You can have whatever looks you’d like in the images- as clothed or not clothed as you desire.
Every client receives 100% of my heart, skill, and attention, with no exception. I have learned since starting my full time business in 2005 that I can not take on every interested family at the same time; I am committed to limiting the number of sessions that I photograph each month in order to maintain this reality.
I specialize photography for families from the pregnancy stages throughout childhood, and enjoy the makeover and hot-momma sessions very much. I don’t offer high school senior photography or wedding portraits. I do not try to be everything to everyone, but I enjoy being the best at what I do offer.
To order your portraits, you will have a few options; generally I come to your home with the printed, finished 5×7 images to present them to you during an ordering appointment. This way we are able to talk through any questions and finalize your order at once. If you prefer, I am happy to place your images into a 4-day online viewing gallery for you to select from. In this situation, we would have a phone ordering appointment on the third or fourth day of your online gallery, during which time you would finalize and place your order, instead of having an in-person ordering appointment.
Your satisfaction with the images is guaranteed, in writing, as are the finished portraits. If you are not satisfied with your images, let me know right away. I’ll make it right, either with a reshoot, or by refunding your photography session fee, no questions asked.
I am not interested in offering what other photographers provide and I do not take shortcuts resulting in cheap pricing. I offer professional quality portraits at professional pricing. The canvas products that I offer are created only through the emulsification process from a photographic print (no ink jet printing onto canvas). Fine art prints are on either velvet paper or traditional watercolor art paper. The fine art velvet paper has a slightly textured surface and is made with 25% cotton fibers, watercolor has a natural white finish with a coarse, structured surface equivalent to traditional watercolor paper.
For the true do-it-yourself’ers, I will offer high resolution digital files; in this case, all JPG files are provided fully edited and with my artistic vision and processing, with release to print up to 14″ in size on standard photo paper. Canvas and fine art prints must still be ordered through me, as well as portraits larger than 14 inches in size. When ordering digital files, remember that you are not paying not for the photo paper the image is printed on, you are paying for the expertise, artistry, and experience that comes with hiring a professional.
